The idea for timebanking was born out of the Civil Rights Movement and the War on Poverty in the early 1960s by an American Civil Rights lawyer and political activist, Dr. Edgar Cahn, the founder of TimeBanks.Org, a 501(c)(3) charitable entity. For four decades, as the timebank hub, we have offered educational resources, workshops, and timebank training, and we also partner with multiple software platforms for community exchanges and outreach.

There are TimeBanks all over the United States and 42 countries with over 3.2 million exchanges. Implementing more timebanks has saved the state government millions of dollars that would otherwise be spent on support services.

With so many decisions on how to advocate the best direction in your TimeBank, from gathering members to join, keeping members active, and to top it all off they may be the ones to raise funds to set up and sustain their TimeBank.
