The idea for timebanking was born out of the Civil Rights Movement and the War on Poverty in the early 1960s by an American Civil Rights lawyer and political activist, Dr. Edgar Cahn, the founder of TimeBanks.Org, a 501(c)(3) charitable entity. For four decades, as the timebank hub, we have offered educational resources, workshops, and timebank training, and we also partner with multiple software platforms for community exchanges and outreach.
There are TimeBanks all over the United States and 42 countries with over 3.2 million exchanges. Implementing more timebanks has saved the state government millions of dollars that would otherwise be spent on support services.
Like every great journey, starting a TimeBank begins with a single-step. With over 30 years of experience, we are here to see you through this journey.
With so many decisions on how to advocate the best direction in your TimeBank, from gathering members to join, keeping members active, and to top it all off they may be the ones to raise funds to set up and sustain their TimeBank. We know this can be challenging to navigate, which is why we help our TimeBanks.
TimeBanks.Org is offering to set your TimeBank in motion with software options, materials, and training you need to meet the vision for your community.
Below is the onboarding we offer. We will also discuss ways where we can seek sponsorship to start your TimeBank.
